The New Birthday Normal

  • June 26, 2020
The New Normal for Birthday Celebrations!

In our pre-pandemic days, whenever a Resident celebrated a birthday, the Little Sisters and staff, together with their families (if there is any) would come together and make it a BIG deal for the Residents. This is especially true when they reach a certain milestone like 90 or even 100! We would also have a monthly birthday party where we would gather all those whose birthday fell in the same month and make it really SPECIAL for them.

That was before … how about NOW? With the strict rule of no visitors and the necessity of SOCIAL DISTANCING, how could we make birthdays special? We still try …Thank God that we have the patios!!

The Residents, with the help of the Sisters and Staff, assume a place of honor on the second-floor patio and family members gather on the front lawn of the building. There is NOTHING that could stop us from CELEBRATING! As you can see from the photos, even with masks on, we can see the joy and the love that flows from the first floor to the second floor and vice versa … The NEW NORMal!
