St. Joseph did it again!
When evil abounds, good bounds all the more… During this time of the coronavirus’ scare, it certainly takes the eyes of faith to see the Divine Hands of God working in our life.
Due to the lockdown, the collecting Sisters are unable to go out begging for our elderly Residents, yet we see an outpouring of donations coming our way.
Whenever the weekly letter appears on our website, giving the latest news of the Home and making our needs known, many of the families of our Residents, the Jeanne Jugan Associates, our Board Members, volunteers, Auxiliary members, our neighbor St. John’s Presbyterian Church Food Pantry, as well as friends have responded with exceptional generosity and kindness! The Knights of Columbus and the Knights and Dames of Malta are also among our wonderful benefactors.
Two particular donations deserve a special write-up.
1) A French Pastry Company- Chantal Guillon- contacted our motherhouse in France, stating that they would like to bring some joy to the elderly during this time of lockdown with their famous macarons. Since they have an outlet in San Francisco, St. Anne’s Home was chosen as one of their beneficiaries. Thanks to Divine Providence, we had more than enough of the famous Chantal Guillon’s ‘macarons’ and ‘macallows’ for Easter to cheer ALL at St. Anne’s Home!
2) The group of UCSF nursing students who has been coming to our Home sent us pull-ups as they learned from their clinical experience here that that is what would be useful for us. In addition, one of the nursing students, Brianna, told her mom Laura about our needs. Learning of our needs, Laura and her group of Strong Sisters came to our aid with cases of adult pull-ups, baby wipes, Clorox Bleach and bottles of cleaner sprays, as well as laundry detergents!
