chinese-new-year-monkey-year-symbol-calendar-red-figures-illustration-53158214 Monday, February 8, 2016, marked the first day of the Chinese Lunar New Year – the year of the Monkey. The Chinese New Year is about family, a time to honor ancestors and to prepare for good fortune.February 2016 014

At St. Anne’s Home that motto fit in very well. Our kitchen staff, along with Sr. Agnes, Resident volunteers and other loyal volunteers, planned for several days and lovingly prepared a delicious traditional Chinese meal that Residents and staff were able to share together in a celebratory atmosphere that highlighted food, family and fun.

Children from St. Anne’s School prepared red lanterns to help decorate our home, Mother Theresa handed out red envelopes containing lottery tickets, and some of our Chinese residents sang traditional songs from their youth. Everyone spoke the same language: Love and Family.
